1. Use of the App

BodhiLock is an iOS mindfulness app that helps users create a pause before opening selected apps. The app may provide app blocking controls, Buddhist-inspired reflections, curated Buddhist quotes, streaks, quote journaling, unlock windows, onboarding prompts, and subscription features.

You may use BodhiLock only for its intended personal, non-commercial purpose and in compliance with these Terms.

2. Mindfulness and Wellness Disclaimer

BodhiLock is intended for mindfulness, reflection, and habit support. It is not medical care, mental health treatment, therapy, diagnosis, crisis support, religious authority, legal advice, or other professional advice. You are responsible for your decisions and should seek qualified professional help when appropriate.

3. Screen Time and App Blocking

BodhiLock may ask for Apple Screen Time or Family Controls permission so you can select apps to block. Blocking depends on Apple's APIs, device settings, entitlement availability, operating system behavior, permissions, network conditions, and your use of the device. We do not guarantee that blocking will be uninterrupted, available at all times, or impossible to bypass.

4. No Account Required

The current version of BodhiLock is designed to work without a required account. App settings and app state may be stored locally on your device. If future versions add accounts or cloud sync, these Terms and our Privacy Policy should be updated before release.

5. Subscriptions, Trials, and Payments

BodhiLock may offer free and paid features. The current product includes a 3-day trial flow and an annual Premium subscription shown in the app as $49.99 per year. During the trial, app selection may be limited to 3 blocked apps. Premium may unlock unlimited blocked apps and other paid features.

Payments are processed by Apple through in-app purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled through your Apple ID settings before renewal. Apple handles payment methods, billing, cancellation controls, receipts, renewal notices, and refunds according to Apple's policies and applicable law.

6. AI-Assisted Reflections

BodhiLock may use an AI service, including an AWS-hosted proxy connected to OpenAI, to generate short original reflections based on limited ritual context. That context may include the selected quote, quote source, quote theme, presence score, and intention text.

AI-generated reflections can be incomplete, inaccurate, or unsuitable for your situation. They are offered as reflective prompts only. Curated Buddhist quotes and AI-generated reflections are separate kinds of content.

7. Content and Intellectual Property

BodhiLock includes interface text, original reflections, designs, source notes, quote metadata, and other content. You may use the app and website for personal use. Do not copy, scrape, resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit substantial parts of BodhiLock except where separate source licenses or applicable law allow it.

8. Restrictions

You agree not to:

• Use BodhiLock for unlawful, harmful, or unintended purposes.
• Reverse engineer, tamper with, overload, or interfere with the app or services.
• Attempt to bypass, manipulate, or exploit the locking or subscription features.
• Use automated systems to scrape, copy, or stress the app, website, or related services.
• Upload or submit unlawful, harmful, infringing, or abusive content.

9. Third-Party Services

BodhiLock may rely on third-party services including Apple App Store and Screen Time APIs, PostHog analytics, Superwall paywall and subscription tooling, Singular attribution, AWS infrastructure, OpenAI AI generation, crash diagnostics, hosting providers, and support tools. These services may be governed by their own terms and privacy practices.

10. Changes and Availability

We may update, suspend, remove, or discontinue features, integrations, pricing, trial availability, content, or the app itself. We may also update these Terms from time to time. Continued use after updated Terms become effective means you accept the updated Terms.

11. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

BodhiLock is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties and will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits, lost opportunities, device issues, service interruptions, or reliance on app content.
